Legal Counsel | Elia

For Elia, I am looking for a Legal Counsel with experience in corporate law. Fluent in Dutch, with excellent command of English and good knowledge of French.

In addition to its activities as a transmission system operator, Elia Group provides various consulting services to international customers through its subsidiary Elia Grid International (EGI). Elia is also part of the Nemo Link consortium that is building the first subsea electrical interconnector between Belgium and the UK. Its newest subsidiary, WindGrid, focuses on offshore development outside of our regulated perimeters.

As Legal Counsel, you will be part of the General Secretariat. Together with two other colleagues, you will assist the Secretary General as well as the management and entities of the Elia Group, both at national and international level. Your main responsibilities will include:

• Providing advice on corporate law
• Advising and ensuring compliance with good corporate governance practices
• Monitoring and implementing the regulations applicable to listed companies, in particular financial regulations (in terms of disclosure requirements for listed companies) and market abuse regulations
• Advising on regulatory governance (more specifically corporate governance and certification under the Electricity Act)
• Managing mandates and signing authorities of the entire Elia Group
• Preparing and compiling reports on meetings held by various bodies, managing the board and general meetings of Elia Group's subsidiaries and reporting to the management (at national and international level)
• Dealing with legal formalities on behalf of the Elia Group, more specifically those related to the Code of Conduct and the shareholders' register
• Monitoring legislative developments in the relevant legal areas, especially those related to a listed company subject to the supervision of several (federal and regional) regulators

• You hold a master’s degree in law
• You have experience in corporate law. Experience in financial law is a plus
• You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can work with others at all levels of management
• You are able to work independently but also in a team
• You are diplomatic, honest and discreet
• You organise your work efficiently and pay attention to detail
• You have well-developed analytical skills
• You are fluent in Dutch and have an excellent command of English and a good knowledge of French
