For Desmet, I am looking for a Contracting and Legal Advisor with about 5 years' experience in contracting. Fluent in English, preferably with good command of French.

Function

Based at the headquarters in Zaventem, you will be part of the legal department and provide legal advice to the group worldwide. More specifically, you will:

  • Analyse and negotiate EP and EPC contracts on a global scale
  • Handle day-to-day legal tasks such as drafting opinions and reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Improve standard contracts
  • Advise the business departments to mitigate legal risks in their daily practice
  • Advise the company on corporate matters
  • Manage external legal advisors
  • Deal with post-implementation issues, contractual disputes and negotiate to avoid litigation

Profile

  • You hold a Master’s degree in law
  • You have about 5 years' experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements in English
  • You have business acumen and a strong affinity with technical/legal project management
  • You are able to work independently but also in a team
  • You are able to manage workload and priorities
  • You are assertive, persuasive, hands-on and proactive
  • You are detail-oriented
  • You have excellent analytical and synthesis skills
  • You are a good communicator
  • You have a positive attitude and are stress resistant
  • You are open to short-term travel if necessary
  • You are fluent in English, making you efficient in an international context. A good command of French is a plus
